Uzbekistan Independence Day 2022

Google Dooles 01.09.2022 07:45  Date: September 1, 2022 Today’s Doodle celebrates Uzbekistan National Day, or Mustaqillik Kuni, which marks the country’s break from the Soviet Union in 1991. After declaring independence, the Republic of Uzbekistan adopted a new constitution and the current state flag—depicted in today’s Doodle. Independence Day celebrations commenced for the first time on this day in 1992, when a film called Istiqlol premiered in cinemas in the capital city of Tashkent. Later that evening, then-president Islam Karimov gave a speech honoring the nation’s freedom at Independence Square. It has since become an annual tradition for Uzbek presidents to deliver a speech celebrating the country’s dignity on National Day. In cities around Uzbekistan, citizens gather today to attend grand festivities. The main celebration takes place at the newly opened Yangi O'zbekiston Park, where people enjoy a bustling fair as folk music plays and locals perform traditional Uzbek dances.
