Google Dooles 01.09.2024 10:30  Date: September 1, 2024 Today’s Doodle celebrates Uzbekistan Independence Day, known locally as Mustaqillik Kuni. On this day in 1991, the Central Asian nation declared independence from the USSR, officially becoming a sovereign country. Each year, the capital city of Tashkent hosts the biggest Independence Day celebrations. Citizens gather for parades and speeches from government officials to honor the country’s progress. Local artisans line Tashkent’s National Park, offering traditional Uzbek performances and traditional dishes like plov — a rice dish served with muttons and onions. Today, Uzbekistan’s national flag decorates homes and buildings — just like the one in today’s Doodle. The striped blue, white, and green design stands for water, fertility, and moral purity. Happy Independence Day, Uzbekistan! Location: Tags:
